Forest Tenure Management

The Coulson Group has on staff a team of forest professionals who have proven expertise in managing coastal forest tenures. The team consistently prepares forest management plans which meet the ecosystem management and resource management criteria setout in the Forest and Range Practices Act and the Higher Level Land Use Plans that have been approved for Vancouver Island.

The specific tenure management services provided includes:

1. Preparation of Area based Forest Management Plans.
2. Preparation of 5 year Forest Stewardship Plans (Forest Development Plans).
3. Preparation of strategies and options for annual harvest to take advantage of markets.
4. Assess forest development chart areas for logging chance and conduct a detailed financial analysis of related development costs including, stumpage, cost of harvesting, projection of log sales revenue and related profit / loss.
5. Prepare cutting permit and road permit applications.
6. Tender, select and award road construction, tree falling, tree planting, road deactivation and silviculture contracts.
7. Supervise road and bridge construction, supervise logging operations.
8. Obtaining log scale site approvals, arranging for log scaling, log sorting and transport of logs to market.
9. ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System - ensure all road construction, timber harvesting and silviculture projects meet the standards that are setout under the corporate EMS program.
10. Planning, scheduling, and supervising silviculture projects.
