Year 2012 is going to be an interesting one for Coulson Group.  Because we are focussing on new business initiatives in both Manufacturing and Aviation, we found it necessary to move the deadline for our audits of Coulson Group companies forward by two months.  Through a lot of hard work and commitment of Coulson administrative employees and Deloitte Touche auditors, we achieved our goal.  Our bankers received our combined audited statements by mid-April, and all adjusting yearend entries are in our Accounting system.  Congratulations, all.  This was a huge challenge and I am very proud of our Team.

As we look to expanding our world-wide customer base, we have decided to bring on a new Risk Management partner to minimize our exposure from unpaid Receivables.  Jerod and I have been working with representatives of the Economic Development Commission to provide Receivable insurance for our Export customers in both Manufacturing and Aviation.  We have never pursued this option before as our customer base has always been relatively localized.  As we expand outside of Canada, we not only face risk from non-payment from customers in other countries, but there are concerns with the economic realities of some countries.  Having access to EDC’s resources when it comes to deciding where we want to work and whether the customer is deemed financially stable will lessen our worries and make our decision making easier.  As a small business which wants to pursue international opportunities, it is great to find out that our Federal government has programs such as these that we can access.

Coulson Group and Chances RimRock employees have joined forces and have registered in the Relay for Life event, as Team Wendy.  We have two raffles in process right now for this cause and you can view the “Ladies Pampering Basket” as well as the framed art print at our reception desk at Head Office.  We miss Wendy, and hope in this small way we can help find a cure.  If you are around Head Office, please stop by between 8am and 3pm and buy a ticket or make a donation.
