Message from the CEO

 

I mentioned in the January issue of our monthly newsletter, options we have been considering to shift Coulson Group into a different direction while trying to move away from competitors that are focused on the status quo.

The first change comes at CML with our new value added manufacturing facility.  We have broken ground this month and will be erecting a 15,000 square foot building that will have equipment that can produce engineered cedar wood products.  Over the past year Foster Coulson, John Kuch and I have attended several trade shows throughout North America to introduce this new product line, (Coulson Cedar Design Line), of Cedar engineered wood products and have found keen interest as we are able to take a board and extend its value.  The cedar business has changed over the last 10 years and we have gone from a niche business to a boutique business as the volume has dropped significantly primarily because of lack of logs.  Our current plan is to have the new facility up and operational by April of this year.

The Martin Mars "Mighty Planes" show airs this Sunday, February 26th, at 9:00 p.m. on the Discovery Channel.  The show features our contract last year with Mexico where we were based in Del Rio, Texas, and flew into Mexico daily to battle wildfire.  The TV personnel did a good job of portraying the Mars fire fighting operations on the road, in another country, and what a challenge it is to keep a 60 plus year old war bird at 100% availability.  This Mexican operation was the most flight hours in a 24 day period that the Mars has ever flown.
