T

he award of two additional S-61’s in Afghanistan has triggered a hanger full of  aircraft rotations and re-configuration. C-FMAY will depart before mid month to be loaded on an Antonov  for delivery to Mazar e Sharif in Afghanistan. C-FXEC will follow in early January 2011.

Aircrane has leased and imported an S-61 to backfill as a fire ship in Australia for this season. Our contract this year is projecting a later than usual start due to a wet spring. The water reservoir chart below shows storage at over 50% capacity for the first time in five years.

Aircrane completed phase 3 of night vision goggle (NVG) trials. The tests were to verify several aspects of targeting and dropping water on fires and hot spots at night. A short video of the objectives and testing can be viewed on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtumSgg85m8.
