SAFETY
As we get close to entering the third Quarter of 2010 it’s encouraging to see improvements in safety incidents in most of our companies. Aircrane and Tankers each had an incident over the summer that have increased their MIR (medical incident rate) from previous years. Let’s stay on the path of continuous improvement and strive for zero incidents for remainder of 2010 (and beyond).
AIRCRANE
C-GBSF had a bit of a run on fires in BC over July and August, but despite the dry summer heavy lift helicopter activity was relatively low.
C-FMAY continues under heavy maintenance in the Port Alberni hanger. The next contract requirement will be back on fires in Australia (along with C-GBSF) for November, 2010. The Australian winter has been fairly wet so there could be a lot of fuel this year if they have a hot spring and summer.
C-FCLM continues work in Afghanistan. Aircrane sent some expertise (Roman) to assist with a field freewheel change recently.

Aircrane successfully completed the Canadian Type approval for the S76B in Canada. Thanks and congratulations to all involved.
TANKERS
C-FLYL had a good remote deployment to Fraser Lake, BC for most of the month of August. The site worked out very well for both proximity to many of the fires that were burning in the Caribou Region, as well as support from the community of Fraser Lake. Hawaii Mars flew about 11 missions, made 61 drops delivering approximately 330,000 imperial gallons of water and gel.
Unfortunately, the crew had to do an “over the water” remote engine change during this period. The team developed a plan and orchestrated it flawlessly, returning to service in 68 hours.

CML
We attended Western Red Cedar Lumberman’s Association (WRCLA) Global Buyers Mission in September. Most Cedar producers and remanners were there as well as a cross section of global buyers and consumers. Foster set up a booth for CML and many new contacts were made.
The mill currently has a fairly promising order file to near year end between WR Cedar sales and whitewood custom cuts.
