he calendar says it is summer, but no one has told the weatherman - so far.  Hopefully, the real summer will show up soon.  When it does, we need to be ready to practice heat and sun safety.  Stay hydrated, protect yourself from UV with clothing, hat and sunscreen and use common sense in the heat.

The lumber markets are a lot like the weather, hot and cold.  Some standard and appearance items are still selling alright but clears are getting tougher.  The thing that keeps our wood moving is our sizing and quality.  It is critical that we always take care that we are producing a superior product.  Everyone in the process has a part in the quality of our products from the log yard to the planer chain.  If we all take care and do our jobs to the best of our abilities, there will always be people wanting our wood.  Doing our jobs at the best of our ability means always doing things safely as well as efficiently.

Safety
Safety is more than the obvious things like Personal Protective Equipment and lock outs; it is also the attitude of people who are proud of doing a good job.  Soon it will be hot and dry so we always need to be careful with fire, weather at play or at work.
