ngineering work at Cataract and Toquart has now started. We need to submit some cutting permit applications for timber in these areas over the next few months to allow Coulson Forest Products to have a continuous flow of logging and logs for the mill into 2011 as we wrap up areas in TFL 54.

For our next program, we will be looking for approximately 220 000m3 of new wood in the Coulson Licence and 50 000m3 for Echa Peh Forest Resources Limited.

The Cataract and Toquart operating areas have had a long history of harvesting. The era of big cut blocks which were primarily clear cut is gone. Much of what we harvest in the next cycle will be small remnant areas and will include areas with high levels of standing timber retention to protect terrain, wildlife and fisheries sensitive areas.

Under our agreement with MaMook in TFL 54, Coulson still has considerable volume remaining to be logged in approved permits in Clayoquot Sound. In addition, we have several areas to do some final cleanup on, as well as deactivate road and measure and submit waste surveys to Province. We will not likely be finished all of the responsibilities we have in TFL 54 until late in 2011.

Remember to be watchful for and report any wildfires wherever you are in our forests this summer and take some time to catch some fish.

Text Box: Reporting of Uncontrolled Forest Fires

The Coulson Group of Companies will maintain a fire duty officer for the period from April to October 2010.

Any Coulson Group employee or contractor who observes uncontrolled wildfire in the forest must notify the Coulson Group fire duty officer or their supervisor immediately. The duty officer will provide advice on required action and will notify government agencies and Coulson executive.
