ll of the harvesting areas and roads we have applied for under our working arrangement with MaMook Natural Resources Ltd in TFL 54 have now been approved by the Ministry of Forests and Range. Under our arrangement with MaMook, Coulson Forest Products Ltd needs to be finished these areas by April of 2012. Our current harvesting plans call for logging to be finished in the spring of 2011 but, that will depend on log markets.
We are now turning our engineering program back to Toquart and Cataract Lake for the next round of harvest in the Coulson and Echa Peh Forest Licences. We have been doing some planning and reconnaissance work in these areas and will be looking to do some final engineering in the near future so that we can have these areas approved for harvest in the late fall of 2010.
The Coulson forestry program is very small this year because the silviculture responsibilities for TFL 54 will remain with MaMook as part of the settlement agreement.
We are in a period of sustained wet weather on the Coast, however, a few sunny weeks can change that. Everyone needs to be aware of forest fire danger, be prepared to deal with a fire and know what to do if you encounter a wildfire on our work areas or in any area of the forest.
Reporting of Uncontrolled Forest Fires
The Coulson Group of Companies will maintain a fire duty officer for the period from April to October 2010.
Any Coulson Group employee or contractor who observes uncontrolled wildfire in the forest must notify the Coulson Group fire duty officer or their supervisor immediately. The duty officer will provide advice on required action and will notify government agencies and Coulson executive.
Duty Officer Number: 250 731 7966
