March, 2010 Volume 10-153

P

rogress on our second quarter logging volume is slowly developing.  Kennedy Flats work is taking more time due to market drops.  The economics are getting tighter due to weak cedar shingle and cedar standard markets.  I am hoping for a market turn, but am not sure when it will happen.  We have movement in the Gunner blocks but they to are also affected by the weaker than expected cedar market. Gunner is moving forward due to a greater percentage of clear cedar content.

Matliset is still in the cut permit application process and as unexpected, red tape continues to crop up.  The changes caused by the gosshawk nest at the entrance is still a hang up.

We logged R90 in January / February and expected to get snowed out and maybe a little frost to set the road up for hauling.

Well, the snow finally came in March; the mainline is under a foot of snow.  Before we know it summer will be here and time to get the fire equipment organized

Remember safety is as simple as ABC ….. Always Be Careful
