As I get used to writing the year as “20-10” it reminds me how fast time goes by. The much anticipated Olympics are upon us, we are in the mid of Australia fire season, and we are working hard on our summer 2010 fire opportunities.
Our high-tech Firewatch S-76 has been contracted by Victoria State to monitor effectiveness of various aerial firefighting assets, including their recently contracted Tanker 10. Britton Coulson has been instrumental in putting the technology together, and will be staying through the contract period for both operations and training of Victoria State DSE personnel. This is a real testament to the level of sophistication in fire reconnaissance this aircraft is capable of.

Firewatch 76 was transported to Australia in a 747 from Seattle to Luxenburg to Melbourne. Josh Page is our S-76 AME and accompanied the helicopter on the freight runs to ensure it arrived in pristine condition.

The Victoria State fire season has been “slow…, but steady” to this point. The 2 S-61’s have not been overly taxed, but have had several remote deployments that are keeping them around average season hours.

On the fixed wing side Hawaii Mars spent a day around English Bay and Bowen Island playing a role in the Fox Movie production of “The A-Team”. Watch for her debut later this year.
Hawaii Mars will also be featured by the Province of BC for Forestry Day during the Olympics. On Nov 23 she will fly to Vancouver Harbour for a waterdrop, then proceed to Steveston where it will be on view for a day.
We continue to have interest in our S-61 fireships from several countries in Eastern Europe.
