elcome to 2010.  What will this year bring to our forest industry? Probably more of the same. Very tight budgets and desperate competition for the work that is out there. Many different things are being tried. Mechanized improvements can't fix what ails us this time. The economics have to improve in our industry. Companies have to get more productivity per man day or get the same productivity we have always got for less money. Sounds simple! It isn't, nobody wants to go backwards. We have had our first wage roll backs in the interior lumber industry so it will be interesting to see if it helps out long term.

The CFP logging schedule is going through some delays at this time. TFL54 blocks and volumes are under review. I am hoping for a green light soon. We are getting to a point where the mill will have to buy fiber to fill their needs.

We finished 2009 on a happy note with R90 heli getting the mill some very nice cedar. Between mechanical breakdowns and some miscalculations on budgets,  2010 is off to a slow start. Probably all caused by the recent heavy rains. We are all better sunshine loggers.  Hang in there.

Top picture is of 2 large logs being loaded at Lucky Creek, Toquart.  These logs were delivered (pictured below) to Chief Bert Mack.  The logs will be carved into Totem Poles.
