EMS Reports 2009
I have reviewed the year end reports for the Coulson Group of Companies Environmental Management System (EMS) and I can say that our program is on track. It is good to see that our Aviation Division has fully implemented the Aviation EMS program. I can report that even from our remote work sites at the Flying Tankers Lake Elsinore base and the Helicopter Bases in Victoria State, Australia the crew chiefs are conducting required inspections and reporting on line as planned. Good work on everyone’s part!!

ISO 14001 EMS Audit Schedule:
Our EMS internal audit for CML was conducted December 17/09, and the report will be presented to senior management for review and approval of the action plan to remedy the identified opportunities for improvement.
Aviation will be done during Mid February 2010. The Timberland EMS audit is still planned for April 2010. Our internal audits will be carried out in house by Ron Sorensen and myself. We request that special waste i.e. batteries and the contents of barrels be disposed of, as per the manual procedures, and that the barrel containers are stored under cover
The following table sets out the planned EMS internal and external audit schedule for 2010:

Coulson Manufacturing Storm Water sampling
We have requested the Ministry of Environment to considering allowing CML to reduce storm water sampling to twice a year from the current sample plan of once each quarter. We have asked the Ministry to allow the company to reduce storm water sampling due to the fact that our mill yard storm water drainage system does not discharge drainage water directly into a fish stream. The mill yard drainage outfall discharges directly into the mill log storage booming ground tidal waters of Alberni Inlet which quickly dilutes and reduces any leachents that might be washed off the surface of the lumber storage yard. We will still sample lumber yard storm water drainage at least twice a year to check and ensure that levels of Anti-Sap Stain that might be washed off stored treated lumber are within legal limits. We expect a response to our request within the next 4 – 5 weeks.
2. Forest Certification
Coulson Manufacturing Ltd. received their PEFC (Annex 4) Chain of Custody certificate on December 18, 2009. This is good news as it opens the door to sell PEFC (Pan European Forest Council) certified lumber into world markets. Buyers in Australia and Europe have been asking for PEFC certified lumber. CML has been manufacturing lumber from PEFC certified logs purchased from Timber West and Western Forest Products. I understand that John was selling PEFC certified lumber soon after receiving the registration certificate. A copy of the certificate is included on the following page.
3. Aviation Operations Australia
We now have 3 S61N Helicopters and one Sikorsky S76 helicopter working in Australia. I have processed 7 new work visa applications for our S61 and S76 Pilots and Engineers The Australian Government is now issuing electronic visas linked to personal passports. We have been issued 4 new visas and currently 2 are in Ottawa being processed by the Australian High Commission -- no problems so far. We now have 31 employees with approved Long Stay worker Visas.
