We sure can’t complain about the weather this summer. Hot and dry, just like the Alberni Valley is famous for.
Lumber markets are a little different than the weather: hot and cold would be a good way to describe them. One week the phone doesn’t stop ringing and the next week we are fighting for every order.
The Canadian dollar has been bouncing up and down like a yo-yo to add to the challenge. We have lost 8% to the US over the last few days. That’s 8% less for a lot of our items.
We are in preliminary talks with Probyn and another company to start some quarterly business on cedar. If this plans out, it would be very good for us as they are interested in shop and low grade items.
CSL is back on two shifts to catch up with the processing. With the number of items we produce the planer has fallen behind and isn’t able to catch up.
