I spend a lot of time tracking the mills up and downs in sales. As John Kuch's lumber sales go so goes the logging. John has been having some success moving lumber which puts the pressure on logging to deliver. We have been able to keep the mill in quality cedar which matches their market needs. There is a good balance between logging and sawmilling at this time because we have been delivering 90% cedar for a few months. The test is ahead because we have fallen to 70% cedar for the next while. This could mean mill down time unless they can find a way to cut the other 30% successfully. This is not a new challenge but, I know, they will win this time. It is my hope it works because we have hemlock opportunities in all our areas for 2010.
Looking forward we are building road in our next area, Cypre. This area has about 8,000m3 of conventional and about 12,000m3 of heli. We are looking for additional volume in this area. These logs will be September’s sawmill fiber.  The Matleset area is still in research mode. We hope to have cruises and road maps to review in the last week of July.

Summer heat has taken hold on the coast. Stewardson has had some pretty hot days but is now back into the fog until 2pm mode. Great logging weather – but the fog is putting stress on our heli falling program at Cypre. We have a plan to work around it. Have a great summer.
