he logging industry continues to be in a cautious wait and see mode. Those that can operate at current market prices are producing limited volumes. There are opportunities to sell logs but the prices will have to improve before we will increase production.
We have our timber cruisers re-looking at all areas in TFL54 for opportunities that fit current markets. TFL54 is not a low cost logging area so we need the market to improve substantially before some of the areas that we have under permit are viable. We will continue to log for internal needs for the foreseeable future
We have a 3 plus 1 program ahead for Stewardson production. That is 3 barges, heavy to cedar for the mill and the hope of a 4th barge hembal for market sale. These are based on markets holding or improving for the next three months. We are looking at several other areas in TFL54 for 3rd and 4th quarter volumes.
Barge 1 was a heli barge currently being scaled at the mill. This should keep the mill working for a few weeks. We will start watering wood for Barge 2 early June with delivery scheduled for last week of June. Stewardson will continue at current manning levels, on 10 day work shift, for the summer.
