Coulson GroupISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Coulson Manufacturing Ltd’s EMS ISO14001 re-registration audit was completed on February 13, 2009. During the audit exit interview QMI SAI Global, auditor advised management that CML had passed the audit and that he would be recommending that the CML’s EMS be renewed for an additional 3 years – we expect that a new registration Certificate will be issued in early March 2009. Congratulations to John, Darren, Karen, George, and all CML employees and contractors for all of the good work. Please keep up our record of compliance with environmental regulations and pollution prevention!!
Again -- Thanks to all of you!!
- Coulson Aircrane Ltd’s EMS ISO14000 registration audit has now been re-scheduled for March 23/09. Ron Sorensen and I conducted our internal audit on March 4th/09 and we noted that some employees still lack a full understanding as to the overall objectives of our EMS program. To this end I have agreed to conduct additional EMS training with designated trainers before the audit takes place on March 23/09.
Remember Coulson’s EMS Program’s key elements are:
- Prevention of Pollution
- Compliance with Environmental Regulations and related standards
- Allocation of resources to implement the EMS program
- Monitor and assess programs to enable continuous improvement
- Inform employees, contractors and the public regarding the company’s Environmental Policy and programs.
I look forward to working with all staff and contractors during the Aviation registration audit process.
- The Timberlands EMS program is still on track and has no issues. Next internal audit for the Timberland program will be scheduled for April 2009 followed the Registrar’s annual surveillance audit during June 2009.
B. FIRE PROTECTION
2009 Fire Preparedness - Coulson Forest Products Operations
It is hard to believe that the start of Fire Season is less than a month away. Some organization changes have occurred for 2009. Key changes are Ron Sorensen has been designated as Coulson Group’s Forest Fire Prevention Officer and I will still assist him as and when needed in the event that high fire danger build up occurs and should we have any fire starts. Also, Scott Davidson has been appointed to look after the Fire Tool Cache and assist Gary Collinge in deploying and tracking fire tanker trucks, fire pumps and emergency hand tools. Ron and I will conduct Basic Fire Suppression Safety and Awareness Training during April or May. Your supervisor will let you know the date and time for such scheduled training.
Ron Sorensen will be updating our Fire Prevention Plan and distributing the 2009 Fire Preparedness plan to managers and supervisors on or before April 1, 2009. To this end, the Fire Prevention SOP within the EMS on-line manual has already been updated for 2009.
Your cooperation is expected to prevent fires from occurring and maintaining last year’s record of no fires
Remember: We must all do our part in preventing fires!
No smoking in the woods!! – No lunch fires!! Ensure cable friction points are avoided!! – powersaw fueling must be done carefully!! – Fire extinguishers must be fully charged and ready to use on all equipment! – Fallers must carry flame-out extinguishers!
