As the winter continues to drag on without an end in sight in BC, our Australia Fire operations are hitting record heat. This week was predicted to break temperature records from 1908, with 100+ degrees forecasted daily. Their fire activity levels have been fairly low up to this point with callouts starting to increase daily.

C-FXEC is now on contact with two oil companies out of Darwin in the Australian Northern Territory. The team in Darwin makes almost daily runs out to the ships and platforms, and maintains 24–7 availability in case of cyclone evacuations or medical emergencies. Congratulations to the full team at Coulson Aircrane in achieving all the certifications, equipment, modifications, testing and training required to pull this off on schedule. Pictures show Sean McCutcheon and John Coughlin making an approach and landing on the “Castoro Otto” which is laying a natural gas pipeline to the drilling field.

At Aircrane hanger work is progressing on manufacturing of new S-61 belly tanks, as well as procurement of an S-76 for the Martin Mars bird dog program. Work is underway to tender C-FMAY and C-FCLM for firework in both North America and Europe for our summer 2009 season.
Coulson Flying Tankers is now deep into their winter maintenance program including many modifications to C-FLYL (Hawaii Mars) in anticipation of 2009 work in California. Contract talks continue with the US Forest Service, with all going well at this point.
