Coulson Manufacturing has started running cedar from Stewardson. The markets are difficult but we have an existing order file on various items in 7/4 x 6 and some specialized timber sizes. The mill is cutting to existing orders with the goal on shipping at least 80% of the product produced. This will be a challenge for the mill crew but we work best when we are challenged.
As mentioned, the markets for everything in wood are difficult due to the global credit problems. We are hoping that the recent devaluing of the Canadian dollar will make our products more affordable to our customers all over the world.
During difficult times it is hard to concentrate on safety but as always safety is still Job 1. Please always be aware of your surroundings, watch out for each other, get help with heavy things, lock out when required, always uses personal protection equipment and think safety at all times.
CML will be taking Monday, November 10th and Tuesday, November 11th for Remembrance Day. We will evaluate the week cut of cedar and plan to run again November 13th. CSL will start up November 13th to process the cedar from the first week of cutting.
The news is not perfect but at least there is hope to get going on a regular basis. Until next month please work safe and play safe.
