Message from the CEO

Message from the CEO Happy New Year All.

We are off and running in 2008 and it looks as though this year will be as dynamic as 2007.

The lumber markets will dictate where harvesting and lumber manufacturing operations will settle in and so far as the first quarter goes lumber sales are strong.

The snowy weather has been a factor so far this year on the coast and for the immediate future and will play havoc on the forestry and manufacturing teams.

Our Aviation division has been extremely busy since December with the two-Bell 212s in Adelaide and two S-61s in Melbourne, Australia fighting fires. John Coughlin, our Chief Pilot, Paul Ryan, our Chief Engineer, and their teams are starting the operation down in South America with XEC in the offshore oil market. S61 BSF is running daily between Vancouver and Victoria with Helijet. In mid January we also flew the "Hawaii Mars" water bomber to the TLA Convention in Vancouver and displayed the aircraft as well as demonstrated its water bombing capacity of 7,200 gallons of water daily in front of several thousand people in front of the Pan Pacific. This was an opportunity to showcase the aircraft to potential customers in the Mining business as the Mars were originally freighters for the US Navy.

Rim Rock had a very busy December with great attendance in all areas of the business and we are pleased with the progress we are making in this division.

Our number one priority this year will again be safety. Over the last 5 years we have made steady progress as a Group of Companies, but we still have opportunity to improve and must work towards zero incidents. We can do this by a daily focus on our jobs and looking out for our fellow workers. I will be asking our safety committees to work on ways that can better serve our employees in making our work places the safest possible.
