I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Cheryl Doyle to the Coulson Group Administration team. Cheryl is taking over the Payroll Clerk position from Linda Bird who we are moving into the new Gaming part of our business. Cheryl reports directly to Larry Francis, Payroll and Benefits Coordinator. Please go easy on both of them for the next little while, as Cheryl learns the ropes, and we also start the process of working out CML holiday payouts for the June 15th deadline.
Speaking about Gaming, we are starting to focus more and more on the ramp-up to the Gaming Centre startup. Coulson Group has been hired to manage the Chances RimRock Gaming Centre on behalf of the Alberni Valley Gaming Association, a consortium of approximately 59 Port Alberni Charitable groups. The Gaming Centre (that we will be managing) will include a restaurant, lounge and brewpub, a Virtual Sports Arena that can also be used as an Events Room for approximately 60 people, an electronic and paper bingo hall, and 75 slot machines.
Over the next month, I will be working through the multitude of rules and regulations that are found in B. C. Lottery Corporation's Community Gaming Centre Standards, Policies and Procedures binder. I am finding that there are a lot of people out there that are very willing to help us understand the business of Gaming, and feel comforted knowing that they are there. Particularly, I would like to thank Heather McCurdy, Business Development Officer, BCLC, and Neil Smith, current Gaming Manager of Dob City Bingo, for their patience and assistance.
As well, I am starting to move around certain Coulson Group administration staff members so as to free up their time so they can concentrate more on the startup of the Gaming initiative. In particular, I have targeted Linda Bird and Terra O'Donovan for the Gaming side of our business.
Linda Bird is currently working the promotion and human resource side of things. She is visiting the Dob City facility speaking to the current clientele – preparing them for the day when Dob City closes and Chances RimRock opens. It is quite interesting to hear the questions that are being asked of Linda, as they reflect the concerns of the current customer base. Hopefully, we are able to clarify and pacify the question asker, who will begin looking forward to coming to the new facility. As well, Linda is fielding questions from the current Dob City staff who are interested in working at the new facility. Job Descriptions and Manning Schedules are currently being worked on, and I anticipate that advertising for the Gaming Centre positions will begin around the end of June.
Terra O'Donovan is targeted to spearhead the Coulson Administrative team who will ensure that BCLC reporting requirements are met and the accounting for revenues generated is done properly with lots of safeguards to satisfy the BCLC Internal Audit teams. We are very lucky in that Chances Cowichan opened recently and have offered to allow selected members of my team to job-shadow their people in order to "learn the ropes". Terra's time is currently in the process of being freed up so as to allow her to start on her Gaming learning curve. Vesna Dorn will be taking over many of Terra's Aircrane responsibilities during this transition period. Thank you all for your understanding while we reconfigure to accommodate this new Corporate Management initiative.
